Hot New Cellphone - Can't Believe It's Mine!

Share and Enjoy:
It was finally my turn to get a new phone after giving up my upgrade to the kids the last two go-rounds. As it turns out, my new phone was well worth waiting for!

I got a Samsung Omnia Smartphone with Touch Screen. Wow. This phone is so loaded! I had always thought I'd hate a touch screen, but now that I've used this for a while, I like it just fine. One really cool feature of the Omnia is that you can change the orientation of the screen from portrait to landscape easily by just turning the phone on its side. What this does is increase the size of the keys on your keyboard for easier typing.

Easier typing will come in handy with my Samsung Omnia because I have Microsoft Word built in together with Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. This package is called Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.

I like the Etiquette feature of my Smartphone too. I can set the phone so that all I have to do is flip the phone over to silence it. That can come in handy if you are in a situation where phones ringing are taboo.

The Smartphone onboard camera is 5.0 megapixels and takes great shots. I can take videos, too, but haven't gotten into that feature yet.

Well, saving the best for last, I need to tell you about how awesome it is to have internet wherever I happen to be! I don't need a "hotspot" or anything. I can just touch my screen a couple of times and can check my email, or my Shared Review status, or my local traffic report and weather, or whatever I need at the moment. There is a monthly charge for the internet, though and my service provider said that, with the Omnia, it is not optional. I'm fine with that, though, because I am getting a big kick out of being connected everywhere I go.

I looked at a Blackberry, too, but the Windows Mobile 6.1 professional is what ultimately sold me on the Samsung Omnia. I'm totally used to the touch screen now and am finding my new phone to be totally intuitive and a pleasure to use.
