Buduchnist Credit Union - Great Service!
When we purchased our current home back in 2006 we decided to go with a credit union. We chose Buduchnist Credit Union (a Ukrainian credit union) because they offered a really good rate on a 2-year variable mortgage (4.1%) and we always received personalized service when we went to the branch.
In order to use them we had to become members so we bought $100 in shares. We were then able to get our checking account with a ATM card. We were also able to get $1000 line of credit on the account. Since we were transfering our mortgage to the checking account from another bank (BMO), we wanted to ensure that the funds would always be available to pay the mortgage. We setup automatice debit from the BMO account to our checking account at Buduchnist to cover the mortgage.We were also able to get cheques for this account free of of charge. Withdrawing funds from Buduchnist ATMs is free of chanrge but we have to pay a network fee if use another bank's ATM.
We get monthly paper statements that keep us up to date on account activity. The only downside is that they do not have online banking or even Interac Online. So, when we want to make a deposit we have to travel from Brampton to Mississauga to make a deposit. There are 9 Buduchnist branch locations and their ATMs are only at branch locations.
Aside from this fact, the services I've received on my chequing account has been great and I don't even have to pay a monthly account service fee for the chequing account!
