Stylish- Two Mesh Pockets - Cheap!

Share and Enjoy:
This has two outside mesh pockets deep enough to carry water bottles, and looks good.  Other than that it’s just a cheap backpack.

This pack had the two features that I have been trying to find for several years.  I wanted a small pack to use for day hikes that had two outside mesh pockets, one on each side, with elastic at the tops, to carry water bottles.  I also wanted it to be cheap- $10 or less.

Most of the cheap backpacks have one outside mesh pocket, and on the ones that I found with two they were not deep enough... a full water bottle was likely to fall out.  So when I saw this one, although it hasn’t much else to recommend it, I bought it on the spot.

This is made by Arizona Blue.  It is made of 600 denier polyester. and has two zipper compartments.  The main compartment has a single zipper.  The lining is black. There is one pocket on each side of the main compartment with no closure on one, and a single strap held with velcro on the other. They are calling one of these a laptop pocket.  Things put in these pockets fall out whenever the pack is not in an upright position.  There are no pockets to organize pencils or glasses or other small items, so this would not make a good school book pack.

The outer zipper compartment opens with one long zipper vertically down the middle.  There are no internal divisions of this compartment either.

It does have a padded handle on the top, and a nylon strap loop to hang it by.  The straps are lightly padded, and each has a D-ring on the front.  The straps are adjustable in the usual way.  There is no waist belt.

With no internal dividers everything inside just falls to the bottom of the pack- not an ergonomic way to carry gear, but not much of a problem if you aren’t carrying much weight.

I have used this pack for about 25 total days of day hiking this summer, for a total of about 300 miles.  I wore it while riding my bicycle some too.  I have to say that for a very cheap pack it has held up well.  The fabric does not show signs of wear or abrasion. None of the seams have failed. The elastic on the mesh pockets is still tight.

My hiking buddy, who usually walks behind me says that it looks really sharp!

Conclusion:
Because of my specific desire for the two mesh pockets this has really met my personal need.  And it has held up far better than I expected for a $5 pack.  So I am extremely satisfied.  But due to the overall lack of organization ability inside, I think most people would not find it as useful as one with a better design.

(I have no idea what the Theme of a backpack would be so I gave it a 0 for that characteristic.)

  1. I like that it has the two mesh pockets too. And for $5, you can't go wrong.
