My Pal Scout

My youngest son recently celebrated his first birthday. I took my eldest son out shopping with me to buy the baby his birthday gift. After reiterating that we were buying the baby a gift, my eldest son picked out My Pal Scout.

My Pal Scout is a cute plush puppy dog made by Leap Frog. It is so much more than just a stuffed animal. My Pal Scout is green and white and super soft and cuddly. He has interactive buttons on each of his paws. One paw is the power button. Another paw is for nighttime songs. You can play either 2, 5, or 10 minutes of bedtime music. The third paw is for day time/fun music. The last paw is for fun and games. When you press the fun paw - Scout talks about emotions, colors, words, favorite foods, numbers, etc. Also when you press any of  his paws, his collar lights up.

By far, the coolest thing about Scout is that you can customize him via a computer hook up. You simply insert the included USB cable from Scout to your computer. You are taken to a site and you have to register your product and then you get started. First you select your child's name from a huge database. My son's name was in there and his name isn't in the Top 100 names. By chance that your child has a very rare name, you can pick a nickname such as pumpkin or peanut. You then pick your child's favorite food, color and animal.

Once you have downloaded all the information into Scout, he is ready to play with. It is so neat to turn on the toy and he says Hello "Name". He will tell you he loves you by name and says Good Night "Name." Children will delight in hearing their own name. Scout will talk about your child's favorite things that you entered. It is a very fun and interactive learning toy.

Another neat thing about Scout is that you can change the 10 songs that come loaded on him. Again, you simply attach Scout to your computer and you are able to change the songs that play. There are 30 songs to choose from. The database is also regularly updated with new songs. It is great because you don't get sick of hearing the same songs over and over and over. 

My Pal Scout does require 3 AAA batteries. The good thing is that they are included. He also comes with a USB cable, a Quick Connect Guide and Parent Instructions booklet. My Pal Scout retails for $19.99. My Pal Scout also has a friend, My Pal Violet. She is purple and more geared towards girls.

I highly recommend My Pal Scout for a baby or toddler. They will have so much fun playing with him and really enjoy hearing him call them by name.
