This DVD is a fascinating story that covers a grieving nation as it mourns for the people's princess, Diana. The lead female role stars Helen Mirren as Elizabeth,Queen of England. The tragic death of Princess Diana presents a dark hour not only for England but for the Queen as well. The people of England loved the popular princess and they could not understand the coldness and indifference the Queen displayed at hearing the news of Diana's sudden death. The grieving nation waits to see what the leaders will do along with the world watching as well. Queen Elizabeth who is extremely conservative and very private finds herself in conflict with her Prime Minister, Tony Blair. This is a pivotal moment in the Queen's life because she has never found herself in a situation where her own popularity could drop to a new low. Helen Mirren won the Best Actress Academy Award of 2006 for this role. She captured the unemotional presence of her royal state, stoic yet dignified. " Queen " was said to be the best performance of the year in the year's best movie. My own personal feelings about Queen Elizabeth is that she has always been too starchy and never truly connected with the British people. I believe she lacked the genuine warmth and affection that Princess Diana exhibited. The sound quality of this DVD was excellent and the color was superb. I am confident that this DVD will last for many years to come.
