There is very little to improve upon in the Nikon CoolPix S10 if, like me, you're a casual user. A pretty generous 2-inch display screen acts as your viewfinder. A manual look-through-a-small-hole viewfinder is non-existent on this camera; don't worry, you'll miss it only in very bright conditions that blanche out the viewfinder display screen. A generous 6.0 megapixals, the resolution is more than adequate for the casual user. A bonus over most cameras at this price level, the S10 has 10x optical zoom. This allows you to get quite close up to your subject; however, unless you have a tripod, you will end up with a blurry picture from the vibration of your hands. With minimal skimming through the manual, I've figured out how to use the basic controls, including adjusting the color to compensate for incandesant light or flash. My biggest complaint is the inability to manually focus the camera. This camera has a very difficult time focusing on certain things, like my white cat's fur, which sometimes leads to missed photo ops. Overall, though, I've been very happy with this camera. I wanted some powerful optical zoom on a compact little point-in-shoot camera, and the CoolPix S10 provides it. Definetly worth looking into!
