Chessmaster 9000
I purchased this game a couple of years ago.I also have a earlier version which is good also. What I like about this game is the sounds, tournament modes, kids room, not to mention the various skill levels,plenty of chess sets to choose from and a selection of chess boards as well. The tutoring on this game is extremely good and a wonderful advantage for new players. As a fairly new player I have found it to be a really big help.I really enjoy being able to pick from a huge list of computer generated opponents. It's great fun working your way up the ladder and watching yourself improve. IT has a great selection of grandmasters for you to play if you dare. Truly I cannot believe how good this game is. I cannot imagine a better game for the pc.
