Barcelo Maya Beach Resort, Mexico
My husband and I plus another couple stayed at this resort in May 2007 for four nights,five days. We had a blast! It is an all inclusive resort and I felt that the price was very good for all we got. Per couple we paid $1300. This included airfare,accomodations, all meals,snacks,drinks (alcohol and non). It also included non-motorized water sports (snorkeling,kayaking etc.) nightly shows and more! The beach was absolutely gorgeous. The water clear and wonderful. The pool area is huge with a fountain and it winds around under a bridge. Really cool! There is also a swim up bar. They have a self serve corona tap as well as soda at the swim up. You can order whatever yummy drink from the friendly bartenders.There is also a nice daytime buffet near the pool that's great for lunch. There is a main buffet for all meals as well as several other sit down restaurants. The food wasn't the best and was really my only dissapointment at this resort. It was okay and definately didn't ruin my time. I did not by any means go hungry!
Every evening is a show in a huge theater. The shows were all good that we saw. There is a disco as well. For an additional fee you can go to the spa for a variety of treatments. We didn't do any though, we were too happy on the beach to go inside.
I really liked this resort. If you want to do nothing but lay on the beach it's perfect and if you want something to do every minute, it's perfect for that too. They've got you covered!

Did you book your vacation directly with them or did you use a different travel site? I'll have to check this place out!
We actually booked through expedia.com and were very pleased. Really easy,no problems. We did actually call them to book, rather than booking online just because I like to deal with a live person who can confirm everything rather than hoping it all went through as expected! We had used the website to choose our flights and resort ahead and then just let the person on the phone know what we wanted. Check it out, it's great!
What a great price! That sounds like it was a lot of fun, and a good way to relax. We already have our vacation booked this year, but maybe next year I can do something like this!
This sounds like a fantastic trip. Too bad the food wasn't better, though.
