A Trip To Memphis
If you want to visit Memphis, go in the Spring. April is the time of year we go, and we love it. The best of course, is seeing Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley. The tour is $25, but well worth it. You can pay more to see Lisa Marie's plane and Elvis's collection of cars, but the main tour is just fine. You can find any and every bit of memorabilia at any store including Walmart. My suggestion is that you buy it there. The price is right!
We stayed at the Holiday Inn on Poplar Avenue, right off of Rt. 240. This is located near the Germantown part of Memphis. You're far enough away from the inner city but close enough to get to Beale Street within 15 miles. You can either drive down or take the metro bus. We've gone both in the day time and at night. If you really want to see the action and Beale Street in all its glory, then you need to go at night. All the music and singing and characters that you would ever want to see and more.
We really enjoy going to Corky's BBQ and Smokey Bones for their awesome ribs. And the House of Wang is a very good oriental restaurant. If you want good down home cooking, then you need to visit the Blue Plate Cafe located on Poplar Avenue not too far from our hotel. Great food at a GREAT price.
