Hangman’s Curse

Hangman's Curse is the first movie based on a novel by the popular Christian author Frank Peretti. The movie begins with a teenage boy, Abel Frye, committing a suicide. The boy, a victim of school bullies, hangs himself at the school. Then strange things begin to happen to other students, specifically the jocks who bullied Abel. They see scary visions and fall ill; nobody seems to know what the mysterious illness is. The school starts talking about "the curse of Abel Frye."

Enter the Springfield family: the husband, the wife, and sixteen-year-old twins, Elijah and Elisha. They are an investigating team that goes around the country and works undercover on strange cases like this one. They are a Christian family, and they deal with their cases from a spiritual perspective; however, that fact is made rather vague in the movie. The twins go to the school as students, to mix with the crowd and learn more about the curse.

The movie is clean: no profanity, nudity, or sex-related jokes. I would describe it as borderline horror, although there is no blood and gore. Overall, it is a decent movie with an underlying Christian message.
