Boost Mobile Rocks

I was one of the last people on the planet to get a cell phone.  My income is limited, so I put off the extra monthly expense as long as possible.  When the time finally came to get a cell or be disowned as a hopeless cavewoman by my friends, I searched out the cheapest plan possible.

What I found was the Boost Mobile pay as you go plan, and I couldn't be happier with it.  I'm so happy with it, in fact, that I would go outside and shout about it if it wasn't 3AM.  Really, it's that good.

First of all, this is a plan for people who don't use their phone a lot and don't want to pay for minutes they don't use.  If you're on your phone frequently, you'll want to try one of the regular Boost plans, which are probably good too.

On the Pay as You Go Plan, you buy minutes in advance.  You can buy as little as $15.00 at a time, and as infrequently as every three months.  That means you can have a cell phone for as little as $5.00 a month.  For someone who only uses their cell for short calls like, "I'm lost, where the $%@& is your house!?" this is perfect.  Daytime minutes cost 20 cents each, but nights and weekends are only 10 cents.  Texting out is 10 cents, but received texts are free.  If you remember to buy new minutes before the ninety day expiration, the minutes you had left carry over and don't expire.  It's awesome.

If all this sounds great to you, you might be wondering about the quality of such a cheap service.  Well, after almost a year with this phone, I have only had ONE dropped call, and that was in a basement.  In other words, the connection is great and couldn't be much better.  Customer service is excellent too. There is no contract of any kind, no roaming charges, and long distance costs the same as local calls, which is cheaper than my home long distance plan.  Did I mention I was thrilled with Boost Mobile?

Are there any drawbacks?  Not really.  Sometimes something that sounds too good to be true really isn't!  The web site doesn't have the best design as far as easily finding the information you're looking for.  The ring tones and wallpapers that came with the Boost Mobile phone were not as good as what I've seen on other phones -- not much variety here.  I'm really stretching to find the bad stuff.

If you need a cell phone and you don't have the money to pay on a contract every month, this is the way to go.  If you only use your cell infrequently, you can't beat this plan.  I searched high and low to find this, and there wasn't anything else that even compared.  Boost Mobile rocks.
