Evan Almighty

Last evening my husband and I sat down to watch the movie Evan Almighty from Universal Pictures.  Evan Almighty is a comedy starring Steve Carell.  It is rated PG for "mild rude humor and some peril".   It was about 90 minutes long.  Morgan Freeman, Lauren Graham and John Goodman also have roles in this movie.  In the movie, Steve Carell plays Evan Baxter, a newly elected Congressman whose motto is "Change the World".  Through a series of events, "God" speaks to Evan and commands him to build an ark.  The rest of the movie is about the struggles Evan faces with his family and his job as he tries to complete this assignment before the deadline "God" gave him.  It ends with... you guessed it, a big flood and a lesson about random acts of kindness.  My opinion on this movie was that it was just OK.  There were some laughs, but not as much humor as I expected.  I really liked the animal scenes - they provided for some very funny moments!  Also, be sure to continue watching after the credits play - there is some funky dancing going on that is not to be missed!  Overall, it was an enjoyable movie, good for a few laughs - just don't set your expectations too high!
