Recreation / Stadiums & Sporting Facilities / Ford Field

Have you ever been to Ford Field? Well, if you haven't you are definitely missing out on one of the nicest sports stadiums in the country, located in downtown Detroit. What makes Ford Field so nice? The stadium is only a few years old, and is built in downtown Detroit right across the street from Detroit Tigers and close to the Red Wings as well. Downtown Detroit is the ideal setting, it screams blue collar, working class in its surroundings which helps to epitomize the Detroit Sports fan.

The best part of the new stadium is the seating as it relates to the field. There is literally not a bad seat in the house. There are approx 65,000 seats, and they all give a great view of the field. I sat 8th row end zone for a Lions game last year and was very impressed by the way the layout was.

Exploring inside the stadium, around the circle you find two main things: food and alcohol! The food choices are plentiful, ranging from local eateries like Big Boy and Pizza and the normal stadium dogs, brats and burgers. You can also drink a bigger-than-your-bladder beer or mixed drink anywhere around the stadium.

There is also a few shopping kiosks placed around the stadium, to buy all things Lions. But if you want to really get a good gift, I strongly recommend the Lions Store near the front entrance. Here you will find EVERYTHING that has the Lions logo on it-be it a pair of socks, bottle openers or any size jersey you can thing of and all things between, this is the place to get that unique gift for someone who love the Lions.

I would recommend this stadium to any Detroit fans and really to anyone who loves stadiums at heart-it is not to be missed!

  • Love going to this stadium. It's awesome how they incorporated an old brick building into the arena. I think any seat in this place is a good seat. Very well planned out. The parking is expensive if you want to park close by the stadium.

  • If the lions could find a quarteback this place would be even better.
