100,000 Baby Names
By Jessica Ne onThis was a pretty good book for checking out baby names. I wanted a book that had a lot of names but this one was a little overwhelming. It is 700 pages long! The most fastinating part is in the beginning. This book has over 300 lists of names. These lists are from different years, decades, popular figures, presidents, etc. I thought it was really fun to see what names seem to go with different professions.
That part was honestly the best part of the book. The rest of it was pretty useless to me. I have always found it really interesting to see what the meanings of names are and this book lacks greatly on those. It mostly just refers you to another name. It would be nice if the book was sectioned by types of names as well, or by country.
This book definitely has probably every name in the world but sometimes that can be a little much. It seems that most of the name books focus on the number of names and not how accurate information is given about each name. I would much rather buy a book with 50,000 names and have better information and not feel so overwhelmed with names that to me, seem a little off the wall.
I would recommend another name book that maybe isn't so huge unless you are looking for a very unique name. If you have time to sit and go through it that is great and it may be a little more useful for you. If you just want a book to see meanings of names or additional information this is NOT the book for you.

I like how the book has lots of name options!
I love Baby name books and this one sounds great! When I had my daughter, we had a book similar that also displayed different spelling options of names and I really wanted to spell her name "Violette" but decided to go with the regular spelling of Violet so she could find personalized items with her name. I should have went with the different spelling tho, as her name is so old fashioned, we still can't find anything personalized for her, lol.
