12 Wexford Box fan - small size, small breeze

Reviewing: Wexford 12" Box Fan
Purchased at: Walmart

The 12" Wexford box fan was a late summer purchase at Walmart. The shelves were almost bare and I just needed a small fan for the window above my kitchen sink as a larger fan would not fit.One fan Walmart seemed to have a lot of still was the Wexford fan, and for 8.99 it was the right size, so it went in the cart.

I liked the overall look of the fan, it is a smooth dark gray plastic. However, right away, the on/off/hi/lo power switch gave me trouble. It is still a very tight switch 1 year later - hard to push, hard to set in place. You'll think you're pushing the switch from lo to off and all the sudden the fam speeds up and you realize the switch did not go where you wanted it to go.I blame cheap plastic here.

The choice of 2 speeds is also pretty useless.Hi is really not much better than Lo and both just don't do the space they occupy justice.I have another 12" fan from a different maker and that thing blows like crazy, you can feel the breeze it creates from across the room. With the Wexford, I can barely feel a breeze on my skin when it is on high and I'm doing the dishes 8" away!

I would not recommend this fan.I still use it, simply because I can't afford to replace it, but it isn't the greatest by any means.

What a shame, this fan sounds like a real disappointment.
