1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Limited By Brad Carroll on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I used to make overnight drives from Sheboygan, WI to Fayetteville, AR in this Jeep. (That's 795 miles, according to Yahoo maps.) It's the most comfortable automobile I've ever ridden in or driven. The seats were even more comfortable than cars I've ridden in, and I had plenty of leg room.

The back seats fold over, adding space to the cargo area in back. So if you have to move all of your stuff from, say, Fayetteville to Sheboygan (and back again), you've got plenty of space to put it in. Provided you don't have too much stuff.

(The back space can also comfortably sleep two, when it's not busy moving all your stuff. There's plenty of room to roll around and get roudy. You could almost dance in this machine. But that's for another time...)

For all that space, it's not as big as, say, a Durango or a Tahoe. Those things always feel excessively big. A Jeep Grand Cherokee is pretty much the perfect size--and I've gotten up to 24 miles per gallon in it!

Unfortunately, at about 168,000 miles, the transmission started going out. It might not have gone out so soon if I didn't live in the hills--but I do. Transmissions and gas prices being what they are, I decided to sell it and get a '94 infinity.

But instead, my dad sold it and got a '00 Durgango.

Such is life.
