2009 Toyota Corolla
By autumnleaves onI just recently decided to buy a new vehicle due to the gas prices steadily rising.I wanted to purchase a Toyota Prius Hybrid.I done all my research.I was ready and excited to get a Prius.Little did I know they are few and far between in Texas. There are hundreds of people on the waiting list for them.
I went to the Toyota dealership looking for a prius.I didn't even have a back up plan.I ended up with this 2009 Corolla instead.I decided to get it for several reasons.I was unsure of how long it would take for my name to come up on the list for the prius. The Corolla is suppost to get the next highest gas mileage behind the prius. The looks are so much nicer than the older Corolla's and they are a bigger size car now than they use to be.
I decided to go with the XLE because it had a few more features than the basic Corolla has.Mine has cruise control, wood grain interior, alloy wheels and higher quality upholestry. The car is black with light tan and grey interior.I do regret the light colored seats because I can really stain the fabric.
It is equipped with daylight running lights.Has a 4 cylinder engine which of course helps with gas mileage.I am averaging 35 mpg which is better than the 18 I was getting with my Jeep Liberty. It has a cd player/am/fm radio.Has the MP3 player plug in.Keyless remote entry.Has 2 12 volt plug in's.Lots of little storage area. The rear seats fold down for trunk access.Large trunk area with the emergency pull tab for trunk exist.
One feature that has good and bad points is the fact that if the key is not in the car and it is left unlocked it will lock after a certain amount of time.I realized this today when I was taking things and putting it in the car.I had to make several trips and kept noticing when I went back it was locked. It is a security feature of course but can be a hassle as well.
Another feature I really like there is a display in the dash that allows you to see what kind of gas mileage you are getting at that point, shows your average mpg, and shows how many miles you have left on that tank of gas.
Overall I really do like this car.It handles very smoothly.Gets good gas mileage and is a mid sized car.

Nice looking car! And anything that helps save on gas is great!
I have a 2001 Corolla and love it to pieces!!! It has been soo reliable and now has 160k miles!
If you read your owner's manual, there is probably a way to turn off the automatic locking system. My vibe will lock the doors automatically and my husband read in the owner's manual how to turn it off.
The Toyota Corolla is a tough car! My mother used to drive one of these and it lasted practically forever! Enjoy your new car.
This sounds like a nice car & it's economical as well!! Enjoy it!
I have an older Corolla and I love it. I've had it for a few years now and haven't had any major issues with it and the gas mileage is great!
We test drive a Corolla and really liked it. We went with an SUV instead, but boy am I sorry I don't have the Corolla's gas mileage now!!
We just bought a 2nd car seat to put into my husband's Toyota Corolla. With the rising gas prices, it was cheaper to buy a new car seat to put into his car - which gets about 10 more per gallon over my car. I think you'll be very happy with your Corolla!
I've been thinking about purchasing a Corolla, and I will probably be doing so in a year or two. Thanks for the information!
Toyota is indeed a very trusted brand for cars . Glad that you are very happy with the car.
