24 Allergy Relief By karlawmcdonald on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

My youngest son, Colton, has terrible allergies especially this time of the year. I found the best thing for him was Claritin, my doctor told me that all Claritin was is Loratadine and that I could get it in generic much cheaper than the brand name.

I can buy a 60 tablet bottle for $7.96 in Equate, which is the Wal-Mart brand. One tablet last for a full 24 hours, so that is 24 hours of no sneezing, sniffling, scratchy throat or itchy eyes and it is non drowsy so I do not have to worry about him staying awake during school. These tablets are really small and coated so they are very easy to swallow, even for a child.

Sometimes, if he is having a really bad day, we may use a saline nose spray, most days this is enough though.

This product is safe for use in 6 year olds and up and by it being Equate, a subsidiary of Wal-Mart, it is produced and packaged right here in The United States of America.

Glad you found an effective product that isn't as expensive.

Now here's another Equate product that I never considered purchasing til now...allergies this year have been horrendous for so many, myself included...now I won't have to buy stock in 'the other brands' :) this sounds like a good alternative. Appreciate the info, thanks!
