5 Hour Energy

No, I didn't forget to give this a rating, I did actually give it a BIG FAT ZERO! I had wanted to try this energy drink for a while because it was small and seemed to have good stuff in it, but had to wait until I was done breastfeeding. I finally got to try it one morning when I was really tire and it was the worst thing I could have done!
I got the new pomegranate flavor hoping it would have a good flavor, but I don't think it matters what flavor you get, it's just not that great. My husband had the "original" flavor and he said it was like a fruit punch flavor. We both said it was just way to sweet! I had to chase my gulps down with water because it was so stingingly sweet!
I started off with just half the bottle like it says, and 20 minutes later I felt nothing. It says you're supposed to "feel it in minutes" so I figured half the bottle wasn't going to do anything for me. I drank the rest and about 10 minutes after that started feeling the effects. It says the effects last for 5 hours with no crashing feeling, but I crashed HARD after about 3 1/2 hours. Here's the horrible effects I felt during this time:
First I started to get an upset stomach. I had already eaten about an hour before I drank it, but I had to eat a small snack to settle my belly. Then, at about the 1 hour mark I started to get VERY JITTERY! I had that "I want to crawl out of my skin" feeling. It felt like my arms and legs were twitching like crazy even thought I wasn't moving at all! Then at about the 2 hour mark I felt just ok, I think it was more because my family had to come to visit and I was distracted from the feelings. At right about the 3 hour mark I started to feel a little tired again. Then at the 3 1/2 hour mark I CRASHED HARD! I even had to lay down for a little while because I felt like I was about to pass out. I just felt like I had been awake for 2 days without sleep and my body was giving out.
My husband tried it one night when he had to work 3rd shift and was feeling tired. He said he didn't feel any effect at all, no energy, not any more awake, nothing. Neither him or I will EVER drink these again!
My sister and I bought 6 of these for our road trip last May. We figured that between us and my husband, we'd each have 2, just in case we got too tired of sitting in the car. Same thing happened to us. My husband felt nothing at all. My sister and I felt jittery about an hour later and then when we got to our location about 4 hours after that, we just crashed. Granted we had been on a 12 hour car ride, but none of us felt these were worth it and they can be dangerous, especially if driving or operating machinery and forcing yourself to stay away. It's not worth it.
I find it much safer to stay away from these kind of products from all the stories I've heard. Who know how each of us will react, just like with medications. Glad nothing worse happened other than crashing, you must have needed the sleep!!
These type of drinks are terrible and they sell them to kids. My son always wants one of these drinks when he sees them in the store. I can't imagine what this drink would do to a child.

i guess a coffee or a soft drink would of been better for you to wake up. those 2 drinks give me enough energy. my sister use to drink these and she liked them. i think if people drank enough coffee or soft drinks people could get just as much energy. they are expensive to continue to use them though and its the main reason my sister stopped using them. good review
