A BRONX TALE
By Mary onThis DVD stars Robert De Niro as Lorenzo Anello,an average hard working bus driver. He has a young son, Calogero, who admires and is greatly influenced by Sonny, the local mob boss played by Chazz Palminteri. The conflict begins as Lorenzo struggles to teach his son that crime does not pay. Nevertheless, Calogero sees fast easy money being made with Sonny's lifestyle. In his own mind, he compares his father'smeager earnings and limited lifestyle as very inferior to Sonny's attractive big shot activities. Lorenzo tries desperately to keep his son from falling into a life of crime. Calogero knows that his father owns nothing but his father is honest and does have self-respect and integrity. Throughout this picture, we see a constant struggle between good verses evil and confrontation begins. Lessons need to be learned as the young boy is torn between two very different worlds. This is a fascinating movie and very well acted. I was impressed that this was Robert De Niro's directorial debut. The movie held my interest.
