Reviewing: Abu Garcia Cardinal 106 Freshwater Spinning Reel
Purchased at: Post Exchange     Price: $29.99 USD

Growing up as a child, during the summer months, we went fishing almost every day of the week. My mom was a single mother and worked seven days a week. During the summer months, she worked at Lake Tiorati which is in Bear Mountain State Park, New York. My brother and I would go with her on weekends and she would come home for us during the week so we could go fishing. She must have know her fifhsing companies because Abu Garcia has been around for a long time and produces quality fishing gear. Yes, all of our reels were made by this company. I recall catching many sun fish, bass, trout, and eels. Now thinking back, it was truly a lot of fun! We now fish with our kids during the summer months.

This reel possesses outstanding versatility and dependability. It has a five bearing drive with instant anti-reverse capabilities. The spool is constructed out of quality aluminum and one also gets a spare composite spool. It weighs 1.2 pounds and the handle is made of die cast aluminum. It is a quality reel to use with your fishing pole.

We bought our son's and daughter these reels for family fishing jaunts. Every summer we rent a housing compound which has a beautiful lake. All have enjoyed using their reels while fishing off of the boat dock. Up till now, we are still waiting to catch the big one! They did catch some catfish which were skinned and fried for dinner! Yuck! I cannot stand fish but they love it. All in all this is a super reel and I highly recommend it to all of you fishing persons out there!

This sounds like a great fishing reel. We are going to be looking into these once the weather warms up! I will remember Abu garcia when we look.

That's one thing I never got into. We have taken my son a couple times, just because I think it's something all kids should do...not sure why:0) Sounds like a good product though:0)

We used to fish in Lake Merritt at least 3 times a week as children, and then at Tahoe, Carmel or Clear Lake in summer. Loved Garcia fishing equipment! It is great for novices and children, is inexpensive and very easy to use.

You sound like my Dad, loved the fishing experience, but hated to eat the fish. Thanks for the excellent information on this high-quality reel.

We used to go fishing too. Dad had the fishing reel. We had willow sticks with twine and a hook. :-) I always caught my limit. (4 fish)
