A Foyer With A View! By vsimeone on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

We purchased our home about six years ago. It was a housing contractor's spec home so it did not have the highest quality of features nor did we get to pick any items. We are happy with that decision but now that we have saved up some money, we are starting to make some of the changes that we have come to desire over the years. One thing that we have been wanting for awhile is a glass storm door. Our entry door just has a very small window at the top and it doesn't let in much light. It's also difficult to see who is at the door if a guest arrives.

We decided to purchase an Anderson 3000 storm door a few weeks ago. My husband and my son were able to successfully install it saving us having to pay to have it done. There is a small gap at the top near the frame, I believe it was just their inexperience so you may get better results if you pay to have the installation done by professionals. Overall, I love the door. It's one of Anderson's "lower line" in terms of cost but we will be lucky to get to leave our entry door open for more than about four months in our climate! The door really lets in a lot of light and I love that it makes our house look "homey" from the outside. An open entry door always looks inviting to me!

Sounds like a great storm door. I know what you mean. SOmetimes when saving money you get these little gaps and its hard to complain when they did it for free LOL I have one like that and it lets in ladybugs. lol

I really wish we had a storm door so that I could leave my kitchen door open. Just seems so right in the summer!

Glad that with $269, you get what you have always wanted to : The door really lets in a lot of light and it makes your house look "homey" from the outside.

You know you can buy a roll in the right width of insulating stripping, that will close the gap easily. We often use this when hanging a door and dealing with out of plumb issues.

gr8, but $269 for A DOOR is it not just too much!
