A Great Budget Camera By tribefan on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I did a lot of research before I bought this camera, and ended up purchasing it because it was cheap (under $200), and offered a lot of features for the price. The resolution, 6MP, should be enough for anyone, and the 4x zoom is solid too. The screen is pretty big, also, but the resolution of the screen seems kind of low...the pictures look much better after you transfer them to your computer. The camera is a little on the big side. It fits in your pocket, but adds a little more bulk than I would like. One thing that this camera has that many point and shoots at this price point don't is the ability to manually control some settings, like shutter speed and aperture. And I love the easy to use controls. If you're looking for a fully loaded but inexpensive camera, and don't mind if it isn't the smallest one around, the Canon A540 would be a great choice. Canon has also come out with some newer but similar models that you might want to check out, the A550 and the A560.
