A Guide To 100 World Classics By BillF on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

It is basically a clift notes of 100 world Great classic novels, plays and epic poems. Includes Beowulf, Caught-22, Frankenstien, The Glass Menaggerie, Macbeth, Republic, and Walden to name a few included. It includes sections on Plot Summary, Background, Key Characters, Main Themes and Ideas, Main Symbols, Style & Structure and Critical Overview. It was a well chosen 100, I had heard of about 90%, read about half ,and It gave me a opportunity to get a good glimpse of the other half. It has a nice flow chart type figuires to show how the main characters relate. Some of these like Caught-22 and The Great Gatsby I had seen the Movie and not read the classic book. It is a well documented and scholarly work but written not to impress but cler communicate in a form fairly easy to read for an educated auidence. My quick guess it is wriiten at the 12th grade level. Some people would justifiably criticize it as being a western literature biased in choice of 100 classics.
