A Handy Garden Tool, The A.M. Leonard Soil Knife By uaezarb on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This is one of my most used gardening tools. I use it to dig, cut and saw. It has a 6" stainless steel blade and a tapered slicing edge that is serrated that I use for cutting roots and separating plants for transplant. The Blade is 1 3/4" wide, so I can dig with it very easily. The handle is heavy duty plastic, and it is bright orange, so it makes it easy for me to find when I lay it down and forget where I have left it. I love this for doing weeding. It is so easy to dig down under the roots to loosen them and makes the job of weeding a lot easier. I use this when I am planting bulbs, it makes the job go a lot faster. I have used this a long time and it has survived the test of time.

You are speaking my language. I love things that stand the test of time. This sounds like a soil knife. I will have to tell my hubby about this one. Thanks for sharing the information.

This soil knife would be great for root pruning older plants and slicing away runaway canes on rose bushes too. I like the multiple uses for this soil knife Deb. It is a tool well worth having.

Good to know it has held up. I seem to bend this sort of thing all too often. But I like its multiple uses.
