A Magazine for the Canadian Family
By jayjay1113 onWhile at the Baby and Toodler Show this past April I stopped at the Canadian Family booth mainly because they were giving away free stuff. But, they had an amazing deal on just for the show - a year worth of magazines for just $18.00! Since I enjoy reading parenting magazine I thought I'd give this one a try, a magazine for Canadian families.
I received a complementary April issue with my enrollment. It was a special issue titled, 'Birthday Party Guide'. There was also a feature articles about a Nanny tell-all, single-sex schools, family fun ideas, best non-toxic bottles & sippies and how to bust bossy behaviour. Hoping that this magazine wasn't another marketing scheme with pages and pages of advertisements, I decided to read it when I got home from the show.
The table of contents didn't seem robust and then I turned the page. It took two pages to list all of the articles found within the magazine! I turned another page and there is even a 'by-the-ages' index where you could choose to read articles relevant to the ages of your children instead of reading the whole magazine from front to back. This was a awesome way of categorizing the articles especially if you do not have time to read the whole thing. Ages ranges include Prenatal, 0-1, 1-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-16.
The advertisements do seem to be on every other page, with the odd coupon for a product (like Blink,,,and it's done) scattered throughout. The articles are well-written and offer great advice or information concerning the Canadian family. The layout of each page is also eye-catching with small tid-bits of info or a poll or something else related to the article in little boxes.
