A Pill For All Seasons By JennEm on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I decided to try Seasonale because I wanted a birth control pill that would control my periods. This one was a good fit. With Seasonale you only get a period every three months, and it is very light.

Like any birth control pill, you take one pill a day. At the end of three months there are placebos. You can time your period with these pills if you want, which is nice. You just make sure you are taking your placebos at a time other than the time of the event (wedding or trip or whatever) when you don't want to have a period. They do look like birth control pills. I took them on my carry-on on an airplane once and security decided to search my bag. The security woman found the pills, held them up to the person at the machine and said - very loudly - "See, I told you they were birth control pills!" Ah... flying.

But anyway, these birth control pills are just fine and it is nice to limit and feel like you have some control over your period. These do raise your blood pressure, however, which is the reason I had to go off them and try something else.
