A Toy For Dummys By Sharon Lai on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Webkinz... sigh. It reminds of Teddy Ruxpin.
The picture: rich buisness dudes come together in a meeting and need a cheap way to make big bucks. They know that little kids love stuffed animals. They also know that with increased demand for techonology (internet, computers and laptops) in this decade, kids are slowly realizing how fun the World Wide Web can be. So, they put them together- a stuffed animal that lets you play stupid games on the internet- for only ten dollars.
But here's the real kicker- that want you to collect them. And bing! That is how Webkinz became a huge hit.
Once you kid has one Webkinz, he'll want ten more- "Oh mommy, I want the ducky one, the pig one, oh yeah, my friend also has the limited edition bear! Get one!"
The spending will never end. You'll soon buy more nad more Webkinz- they're so vrazy that my son's fifth grade silent auction fundraiser was auctioning sets of ten Webkinz sleeping bags- for 80 dollars!
