Aaaaaa....Comfortable, And Allergen Free:0 By donnabc on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My son and I both have too many allergies to count...really I'm serious. I mean who actually has a doctor tell you that they can't give you the full panel of allergy testing because it would over load your system? Well we do :0(
Anyway, those of you with allergies know that one of the major things you can do to reduce allergens is to encase your pillows and mattresses in allergy covers. And actually it does help.
But have you ever seen some of these products? I mean plastic is not exactly comfortable to sleep on, it makes you sweat and besides, the pillow cases tend to slide off. Then there are the woven covers with a plastic back that starts to peal and crack after a few washes.
Well, I have finally found an acceptable, although expensive, alternative. The Pure Slumber Pillow by Allergy Control Products. These pillows come in all sizes (body, king, standard, wedge, travel) and range in price from $34 to $69.
The Pure Slumber Pillow's shell is made from 200 thread count but it is the fluffy stuff inside that is so special. It is specially made to repell dust mites and remain "hygienically clean" for the "life of the pillow."
I have rationalized the price by telling myself that since I have to replace the pillow covers so often, really the price probably comes out the same...that's my story and I'm sticking to it :0)
Allergy Control Products Pure Slumber Pillow Purchased at: www.allergycontrol.com Price: $35

With great pillows like these, you won't have to replace them so often, and you're right-the price of all the different allergy covers, (that weren't even comfortable) does begin to add up!
This sounds like a great idea. I have always just bought the allergen covers that zipper around your pillow, but they add bulk to the pillow and sound like you're sleeping on a plastic bag. You're right about justifying the price: those pillow covers are at least 8 bucks and they do wear out.
Smart thinking Donna. You ARE saving money over time and getting more healthful sleep to boot.
Great idea and I bet it will save you money over the long haul.
I don't think I'd think twice about purchasing these...the cost is roughly $1.16 a day and in one month if you are feeling better because of them...that's such a small price to pay. I'd give up my daily favorite coffee for that. and it's $1.65/cup :) Great info, thanks.
