Aarp The Magazine By Ezriela By Ezriela on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
"AARP, the Magazine" is published bi-monthly by AARP and sent to their paid members for free. It is geared towards people who are 50-years-old and over and deals with issues and concerns that directly affect older Americans. It's a pretty interesting read, but has an obvious political agenda in mind, as evidenced by the programs it chooses to promote or reject. That's perfectly alright with me, though, since I like to hear varying points of view, whether I share them or not. My husband became a member of AARP a couple of years ago and, as a result, I automatically became a member, as well. I find that I really look forward to getting our copy of "AARP, the Magazine", because it has articles I can relate to. Each issue touches on topics, such as healthcare issues for seniors, caregiving, nutrition, travel, Medicare, lifestyle, advocacy and more. They have sections that answer questions about financial issues and give sound advice about a number of subjects. There are additionally celebrity interviews and stories in each publication. (Did you know, for instance, that Prince and Madonna are about to hit the big 5-0?) I find this magazine extremely helpful, since it targets issues my husband and I have to personally deal with on occasion. You do have to be a member of AARP in order to receive this free magazine, but AARP's yearly membership fee is just $12.50 and your spouse becomes a member for free. "AARP, the Magazine" is one of the many perks that make it worth my while to belong to AARP.
