Well it finally happened. I broke a guitar string. It had been a while since I last tuned my guitar so I brought out my electronic tuner and started going through the process. Something was wrong though. The readings I was getting were telling me to go tighter and thats when it happened, Boing!! I was not sure what was going on.There was no doubt that they were old and I was due for a new set. When I got to George's Music in Feasterville, PA, I was immediately greeted upon entering the store by a friendly helpful employee. He was very knowledgeable and helped me make an educated decision on my next set of strings. I told him what had happened and he had some answers; he said that humidity and low batteries can affect how the tuner interprets the sounds. I told him that I had an acoustic and that I wanted a brighter sound from my strings. He asked me how aggressive I am on the strings and after some brief discussion, he recommended Martin Acoustic SP's. The specifics are as follows: 80/20 Bronze - Light. They are designed to provide maximum string life. They are resistant to breakage. The strings are ideal live or wherever sustained playability is desired. The strings were reasonably priced and I recommend them for anyone.
