Acura MDX - Gas Guzzler

Reviewing: Acura 2005 Mdx
Purchased at: Acura

We sold my Acura RSX shortly after we had our son. A sports car, no matter how fun to drive, just wasn't practical anymore. I wanted another Acura, but figured we couldn't afford a larger one. Then we happned to come across a 2005 MDX that was a dealer demo - in other words a a 2 year old model, with only 8,000 miles on, sold at used car prices! And don't forget that being a dealer demo, it had every bell and whistle it possibly could. Needless to say, we couldn't pass it up!

I love this SUV! It seats 7 easily, though you really should put the shortest people in the far rear seat (not much leg room). Having the 3rd row seat up means you loose cargo space, but there's still enough for a couple suitcases. The leg room in the front and in the 2nd row is really good, but we have had to move the front seats up to accomdate the car seat. You'd think an SUV wouldn't have that problem. It's better now that our son is forward facing.

It's fun to drive. It doesn't drive like a big SUV, but, of course, it doesn't drive like a sport car either. It does have the Acura driveability, and realiability. We haven't had any problems with the car (just the after market security system).

My one real complaint with the car is the gas mileage. I think the best mpg we've gotten has been 16 mpg. We usually get between 13.5-15 mpg. You'd think an Acura would do better than that! We've tried everything the dealer has suggested, but nothing has really helped. I think newer models probably get better gas mileage. I hope they do!

I feel your pain on the gas thing. Mine suv is just as bad, but I can't sell it until I get it paid off.

Ouch - a gas guzzler right now isn't good! It seems like a nice vehicle otherwise.

Sounds like a really nice vehicle. Too bad about the gas mileage. I bet the car manufacturers start coming out with SUVs with better gas mileage soon.

MPV is very well known to guzzle gas. I bet Acura would be no exceptional. Well, if you more spaces, that is a small price to pay for it.

Good info. I'd like to get a roomier car, but can't decide if I want to give up my 21+ mpg! (Chevy Malibu)
