Akai 42 Plasma Television By Peregrinus on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

When we were moving to our first home, we were looking for a nice flat-screen television that could fit in our restrictive budget.

While shopping at Costco we found our answer: The Akai 42" Plasma High Definition Televison.

The picture quality is excellent, offering 1080i resolution (equivalent to 720p). Not the highest resolution, but still very clear. The screen itself is the perfect size for a small house.

The remote that comes with the TV is fairly standard, with no real fancy features.

The nice thing for us is that the TV supports 2 HDMI inputs, meaning we can hook up 2 video game consoles without having to buy a switcher. All we do is select either input 1 or input 2.

The back of the television is a opened pore style, allowing for excellent airflow, and eliminating the need for a built in fan. Keeps it quiet while ensuring the electronic coomponents don't overheat.

PROS:

- Affordable

- Clear picture

- Dual HDMI

CONS:

- not the highest resolution available

I saw this at Costco and wondered how it was for a tv. Sounds like a good one, if you don't need a brand named one.
