I suffer from horrible spring and summer allergies and the worst part of it all is the itchy eyes! I don't mean a small irritated feeling, but that itch of a fresh mosquito bite - in your eye! I used to rub until it hurt until finally a doctor gave me prescription strength antihistamine eyedrops - then the itch completely halted.
However, I faced the beginning of this allergy season without the luxury of health insurance and couldn't afford my prescription eyedrops. Ironically, just a few days into spring I received a trial size bottle of Bausch & Lomb Alaway 12 hour anti-itch eye drops in the mail. I think I signed up for a free trial offer in the dead of winter and had forgotten about them, lol.
I was impressed because the packaging stated it was original prescription strength, but was now available over-the-counter. The usage instructions were the same as my previous drops, 1 drop twice a day. The drops didn't burn or blur my vision, and best yet, the itch stopped immediately!
Overall, I feel these are just as good, if not better than the prescription eyedrops I had been using. I'm anxious to go to the store and find out how much they cost, but I can just about guarantee they will be a real bargain compared to the cost of the prescription drops!

I think it is great that many former precription drugs are now available OTC. These sound like they are very effective and probably much lower priced.
I wonder if these would help me. I don't really have allergies, but about once a day my eyes just itch, and then I rub them uncontrollably until whatever sets that off stops.
I got a free sample of this product too and it has really helped during allergy season. Only takes a little drop for such relief.

Nice knowledge shared here since I have been looking for good eye lotion for my dry eyes.
I recently tried these eye drops myself and although they did work pretty well I had issues with it really burning when I first put them in. Maybe I am just sensitive though.
