Alki Beach in West Seattle

Reviewing: Alki Beach Seattle, Wa

If you have a chance to visit Seattle, Alki Beach is really a must see'. It is located in West Seattle, which is close to Puget Sound. Puget Sound is inland water of the Pacific
Ocean and is dotted with beautiful islands. Fresh water runs into it from the mainland creating a unique body of water that still has tides like the ocean and is teeming with wild life.
On the water, sailing is a very popular activity. The ferry boats transport travelers, cars and all, to the outlying islands. Boaters and fishermen also love Puget Sound.
These are all things to see from the beach at Alki. The seagulls soaring, the kids learning to skip rocks, the kite fliers, sun bathing, volleyball, and the never ending quest for more beach glass are the activities to be enjoyed on the beach. Find yourself a comfy log of driftwood to perch on, or bring beach chairs, or just a beach towel, and come to enjoy the day people watching and just chilling to the rhythm of the waves.
But I cannot talk about Alki without telling you about the best fish and chips in Seattle. I have been stopping here at every visit I've ever made to Alki Beach since I was just a child. The Spud Restaurant (we just call it Spud's) has been on the beach since the 1930's. Apparently, the recipe hasn't changed since then. You really must try them!
For a great day at the beach and a true glimpse of life in the Northwest, you should definitely visit Alki. I know you will be glad you did.
