Almay Line Smoothing Compact Makeup By tinkerbell on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

When I walked into the store that day, all I was looking for was a compact with pressed powder, dry pressed powder. I wanted this item for a trip so I wouldn't have to bring my loose powder, which can be a bit messy when traveling.

I didn't have time to stop at a better department store to buy my usual makeup, so was at the mercy of whatever I could pick up at my local drug store. I headed straight for the Almay section because it is hypo-allergenic and I have had semi-ok luck with it in the past.

The pickin's were slim, but I found what I thought was powder in a compact. I could have sworn the package said Pressed Powder. When I got home and opened the case, I realized this was heavy cream makeup, almost like stage makeup.

Who would have thought this Compact Makeup was moist! I guess that mysterious drop of water on the packaging was Almay's way of conveying that important tidbit of information to us.

I was looking for dry and got wet.

The packaging is quite odd too. The plastic container is a bit complicated and chunky, making it not the easist compact to open. When you lift the white lid, you have another hard-to-open clear plastic lid to wrestle with in order to get to the makeup.

I thought perhaps I could live with this makeup by watering it down, until I applied it. Not only does it go on pretty thick with the sponge pad, but it has the most horrid smell! This awful smell annoyed me the entire time I wore it. Upon further investigation, I learn this makeup is packed with "refreshing cucumber." Folks, cucumber never smelled this bad.

If you are looking for some heavy coverage, this might be the makeup for you, but I doubt you could stand the putrid scent. I do not recommend this makeup to anyone.
