I was put on Ambien CR to help me fall asleep and stay asleep. It worked great! It did everything it was supposed to, and then some. And by that, I mean it caused rediculous side effects. It caused confusion and basically made me feel as though I was high. I got up to use the restroom once, and I fell into the door! I also learned from my ex-boyfriend that I would call him and say things that I ordinarily would never say! I am a conservative person, but I guess on the phone, I was not so conservative! And the bad part was, I did not even remember saying those things! Other people I talked to who had taken Ambien also had experienced the same problems. I also noticed that I still felt strange the next day. So overall, Ambien CR does put you to sleep and help you stay asleep, but I'm not sure if the side effects are worth it. Personally, I have had the best luck with Tylenol PM!

My grandmom was on Ambien too and she had some strange things happen to her too. She has tried every diet around and was doing good with the one, but kept putting on weight and we couldn't figure out why since she was really watching what she ate and was working out a lot more. A few times she would wake up in the morning and see food wrappers all over the kitchen (at the time my stepbrother was living with her,so she just assumed they were from him, since she doesn't like to eat late). One night my granpop got up in the middle of hte night and saw that my grandmom wasn't in bed or the bathroom so he got up to make sure she was okay and here she was in the kitchen eating cold pizza, so he just went back to bed. He didn't think anything of it. The next morning he made a comment about why she was eating so late. Here's the kicker....she didn't remember a thing about it!!! After that my grandpop noticed this continued pattern and when she went to the dr., he said that was very common for people on Ambien (basically binge eating without being conscience of it.) So weird. Needless to say, after that, she was taken off ambien and has been doing well with her diet ever since.
Good information. I would not want to experience those side effects.

Wow! Those are some scary side effects and from reading the comments from others about this medication, seems this is a bad medicine to take. Hope you find a better way to fall asleep.
I was put on Ambien too and had some wierd effects as well that I do not remember but they had to do with certain things in the bedroom. Let's just say my husband wishes I would take it again.
Wow, this is pretty scary - I am glad something else works for you so you don't have to use Ambien.
You couldn't pay me to take this drug. I hear so many bad things about the side effects.
Ihad some of the same thing happen as every one discribed. I would not remember who I was or what I had just said.
Ambien made me really depressed and I had to be taken off of it.
