AMD Athlon CPU
By Alex71 onWhen I first got my computer for gaming back in 2004, my father bought a barebone computer for my brother and me. When he got this computer, he also received an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 1.83 GHz processor, as compared to the 1.5 that came with it. This isn't a very speedy processor, and has 90 nm architexture, but for that time it was fairly decent. With the included fan and heatsink complimentary from AMD, this runs idle at around 45 degrees celcius, or about 110 degrees Fahrenheit. At full load, this would run about 50-55 celcius, or around 125 degrees Fahrenheit. I was able to do casual gaming without any lag or errors with the games of that time, but this does not perform very well with newer games. I have since then replaced it with an AMD Athlon X2 6000, and as always AMD has never failed in support, and takes the time to make sure their processors are the best. GO AMD.
