My daughter received this American Girl historical doll as a Christmas gift. The 18 inch tall doll comes with a paperback book detailing the fictional life of Samantha Parkington, a girl growing up in New York in 1904.

This doll is fantastic because her body is soft and huggable, but she can be posed and is able to stand alone. Her long brown hair and pretty face are beautifully crafted, and my daughter loves her gorgeous outfit. After reading the first book, my daughter was instantly hooked on Samantha's story, so I ordered the five remaining books in the series. What a great way to get little girls to read!

There are several outfits and even furniture available for this doll, as well as a companion doll, Nellie O'Malley, who is Samantha's best friend in the books. My daughter plays with this doll CONSTANTLY, so I have found Samantha to be well worth the money. I would absolutely recommend Samantha for any young doll lover!
