American Idol Turned Country Idol By Monica Cruz on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Carrie Underwood has an unbelievable voice, and after her debut album "Some Hearts" I thought her sophomore album "Carnival Ride" wouldn't be as great. I was really wrong! Though this album is definitely hard core country music, it is still contemporary and fun to listen to.

Her first single, "So Small" is a good song, but there are many more fantastic singles waiting to be born from this album. My favorites are "Last Name"- a song which tells a story about having a few too many at a bar and leaving with someone, and you don't even know their last name. Fun song to listen to while having a girls night out or something like that. A great ballad and hopefully a future single is, "I Know You Won't." This song is really powerful; I'm sure we've all been told lies by someone we love, yet we still stay despite the heartaches that ensue.

Carrie's album successfully balances fun, ballads, and pure country songs. I can listen to this album over and over without being sick of it. Good for all ages, and it is good for those who like or hate country music. Watch for more hit singles!
