An Amex With Travel Perks By peatfire on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The Hilton HHonors Amex has no annual fee, and gives automatic Silver in the Hilton HHonors program just for having it. Silver is worth having because it lets you redeem VIP awards in the program. (In short, it can save on points.) You can also spend your way to Gold by charging $20,000 per year. I've gotten some great perks as a Gold members: upgraded rooms, access to the executive lounge in a hotel, etc.

The Hilton Amex gives 3 points per dollar, and 5 points for certain categories such as grocery stores, gas stations, drugstores and the post office. There is also an initial bonus of 10,000 points when you first get the card.

The interest rate is high, but that doesn't affect me because I pay in full each month. I mostly use the card for groceries and gas. At the 5 points per dollar rate, the points add up quickly.

Sounds like you're able to use the benefits of this card, that makes it worth it! Glad you're able to take advantage of the Hilton upgrades.
