Animal Kingdom Lodge Review For A Family By Timekeeper on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

The Walt Disney animal kingdom lodge is a great resort for families, adults and solo trips. They have standard (parking lot like) rooms, savannah views (Balcony overlooks animals) and concierge rooms. The resort has 3 dining options, the mara is cafeteria like, boma is a buffet and Jiko is nicer dining. The Mare was great for quick family breakfasts and dinners. They had a TV showing the Disney cartoons while we ate. The resort has a large pool and a few secluded hot tubs, the pool is a zero entry pool which is great for kids. And the nearby flamingo pond was fun to watch.

We loved all the extras the resort had to offer, the night vision goggles was a fun way to look at the animals. The campfire was nice to relax buy and I loved the bar area for a nightcap. We also enjoyed all the overlooks for the animals. We found the ostrich, the zebra, the giraffes (such a cute baby, neat to watch him run) and all the others.

We stayed in a standard room, just close to the bus stop. We had a patio instead of a balcony, it was a great location but loud in the evenings as people walked back to their rooms. The price was also right with a AAA discount making it $169 a night for our stay. Our room also had a queen bed with a bunk bed for our daughter. We really enjoyed our stay here and look forward to coming back again.

We have stayed at AKL twice, and I think it has spoiled us for any other Disney resort. The entire resort is amazing!
