Antique Amethyst Decanter Set

This beautiful decanter with shot glasses was a wedding gift to my mom and dad in the early 1940s. I always admired it, even when I was a little girl. I don't remember that Mom ever used it, actually, but always just had it on display on a shelf of her corner cupboard. When she and Dad moved into a smaller home a couple of years ago, I was the happy recipient of this beautiful set. Now it sits on a shelf in my house and collects dust! Writing this review has caused me to resolve to fill the decanter with some fine port so that I can use it to serve up some dessert wine on Christmas this year.
The only drawback is that there are only five glasses. I don't know whether there were six originally, but I think probably there were and one got broken somewhere along the way. I was one of five children, so it wouldn't surprise me if one of us (probably my twin brother!) broke it.
When you have beautiful things like this, I think it is much better to use them and enjoy them than to let them collect dust, and now, that is exactly what I intend to do!
