Antrim 1844 In Taneytown, Md By Morgan Vermeil on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Just a few miles from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Antrim 1844 is an old plantation inn in Taneytown, Maryland. The beautiful grounds and elegant restaurant make it the ideal location for a romantic getaway.

Our room contained a gas fireplace and a two-person Jacuzzi tub. The room was decorated in a "safari" theme, and was in one of the smaller buildings located separately from the main inn. The small sitting area in front of the gas fireplace was cozy and charming. The fireplace warmed our room nicely during the cool autumn evening.

We had a wonderful time at Antrim 1844! The service and staff were excellent and quite hospitable. Our stay at the inn included an afternoon tea and turndown service. We passed the time in the quaint pub that's part of the main inn. Although small, its rustic charm and the pleasant staff made the experience worthwhile.

The staff made us feel as if we were VIPs, even though we were simply a normal couple looking for a short getaway. They treated us with respect and kindness, and were quite willing to go that extra effort to make us comfortable.

I enjoyed my stay at Antrim 1844 so much that we're planning another trip there soon!
