I received the Apex DVD player as a gift. The box contained the player, remote control, and batteries. The was very easy to hook up to my television. This player plays dvd's, cd's, MP3. I was very impressed with the ease of use of the dvd player. The player recognizes most of the time what you are playing and adjusts the menu accordingly. The player is so easy to use that my 3 year old can put in a dvd and play it using the remote. I have not used all the features of the remote but only because the dvd did not have the capability. The player has no problem playing dvd movies copied on to DVD+RW. I do sometimes receive error messages but once I clean the dvd the player will recognize it and play it on my television. I did have one issue with a playback of pictures but we played it in another machine. I reliability of this player is very impressive because I have had it for at least 5 years and I use it almost daily. The only recommendation may have been other colors because mine is a standard black. I really love this machine.
