Apocalypto Widescreen Dvd By Utziem on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Apocalypto is a 2006 movie directed by Mel Gibson chronicling the end of Mayan civilization. The movie itself is diverse and entertaining - beginning with a "day in the life of a Mayan tribe" to bloody war scenes ending with a story of revenge and redemption. The movie is definitely a great choice for anyone who likes dramas or adventure movies.

The DVD perofrms fairly well for a non-HD movie. Most scenes are shot very well with the bright engaging colors of the jungle and the dull brownness of civilization as contrast. The soundtrack keeps the movie going at an entertaining pace and the non-English voices are not distracting. The special features of the disc involve the standard director's commentary and a few deleted scenes. The special features don't stand out on a single disc because the movie itself is quite long.

Overall this DVD is defeinitely recommended for those who enjoy Braveheart, Gladiator, and other such movies.
