Apple Earbuds Stink By nimaro on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

When I first got an iPod, it came with Apple's iconic little white earbud headphones. They worked GREAT for a year or so, until one day while walking through the mall, the earbud fell out and a person walking behind me stepped on it. So tragic. So I purchased a new pair of what I thought were going to be the same headphones. I don't know if I got a defective package or if Apple provides different headphones with the iPod than when you buy them separately, but these new ones are awful. Within a week of usage, the speaker in one earbud busted and now has a permanent crackling sound on any volume level; the wire seems to be permanently kinked and twisted in an unnatractive way; and now after a month of putting up with them the little rubber padding has fallen off of the non-busted earbud, making them incredibly uncomfortable and itchy to wear. I asked Best Buy for a refund but they said it must be mistreatment on my behalf, because you know having working ones for over a year clearly means I mistreat my headphones. If anyone is looking to buy cheap headphones for their mp3 player, I would highly advise you avoid Apple's little white earbuds.
