Apples to Apples

My family is currently vacationing on the beach in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.This year, my daughter brought a friend with her.There is not much in the way of "night life" on the outer banks so in the evenings, we usually play games, cards or do puzzles.My daughter's friend brought a game called Apples to Apples so we tried it out last night.The game basically consists of red cards with the names of people, places and things, and green cards with adjectives.Everyone keeps 7 different red cards in their hands at all times.Each round, the players take turns acting as the "judge.'When it is a player's turn to be the judge, they draw a green card and read it out loud.Everyone submits a red card that they think best meets the description on the green card.The judge mixes them up so they don't know which card belongs to which player then chooses which red card THEY think best meets the adjective on the green card.Whoever's red card was choosen gets to keep the green card and all of the red cards go back in the pot.The first player to win seven green cards, wins the game!

Part of the play involves lobbying for the different red cards that were submitted.Players have to convince the judge why a particular card matches the description the best.We're on our way out to dinner now but I am looking forward to a few more rounds of Apples to Apples later this evening!
