Apples to Apples
By April onI love board games, especially ones that make you laugh a lot.I was first introduced to Apples to Apples through my parents. They had bought the game after playing it at a party, and in turn introduced it to my family. It is simple in understanding and playing, yet a lot of fun.You start out taking seven cards, which are nouns such as the Pope, Madonna and earthquakes, and keep them in your hand. Each player has the chance to be the judge, who picks another card, an adjective, and reads the word out loud to the other players. The other players then have a chance to give their best card to the judge, who reads each noun out loud. Each player has the opportunity to sell his/her card to the judge. For instance, I am the judge and the adjective is refreshing. Some of the nouns could be lemons, the midwest, water or birthdays.I would then pick the word I thought best matched, not necessarily the best match possible.Whoever had the word I chose, water, would take the adjective card and place it in front of them. That was one point. The players take turns being the judge and collecting points upon their words being chosen.Whoever gets to five first wins, so it makes for a fairly fast game, about 30-45 minutes. The game does offer variations, such as only playing with nouns or giving your noun cards to the judge before the adjective is read, which is really fun, and the like. One thing I do recommend with this game:buy the expansion pack! You go through the cards so quickly, it's nice to have the extra ones.Overall the game is a lot of fun and is great for small to large groups of people.
