Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea By Rae777 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

While at the library recently I looked for a book that would be fun to read and even humorous. When I saw Chelsea Handler's Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea I thought this would be a pretty funny book. I am easily amused so I decided to read this book.

This book is a collection of stories, supposedly true, from Chelsea's life. She writes about her love of alcohol, her relationships, her inability to tell the truth on occasion and her odd family.

This book got mixed reviews from known book reviewers. However, book sites like Amazon.com had many glowing reviews of this book by ordinary readers. In my opinion, Ms. Handler can write and there are some funny comments in this book but they are few and far between. Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea just seems to try too hard to be funny despite some of the subject matter being serious such as drunk driving. Ms. Handler comes across as not knowing where she wanted to go with this book.

For a lady who has done standup comedy for years, been on many TV shows and has her own E! TV show called Chelsea Lately I expected more laughs on funny subjects.
